Admittedly when this season began I had very, very, very low expectations for the Giants. Compared to the Eagles, they hadn’t made any flashy free agent acquisitions. They were losing veterans like Steve Smith and Kevin Boss, leaving relative unknowns Victor Cruz and Jake Ballard to take over the WR and TE positions. They chose not to bring back former Eli Manning favorite target Plaxico Burress and most importantly they suffered early injuries to players like first round draft pick Prince Amukamara and veteran Osi Umenyiora.
I remember telling my friends at the start of the season I wanted five wins…2 against the Eagles, 2 against the Cowboys and 1 against the Jets. That was it. If they could do that I would be happy. I may have been a doubter but I could not be happier with the results. Not only did the Giants get five wins, but they powered their way into the playoffs with victories against the aforementioned Jets and Cowboys and then swept right through the playoffs knocking off the Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers and finally the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS.
